Ursodeoxycholic Acid Tablets 50 mg “NIG” helps improve the flow of bile and protects your liver. It is commonly used to treat gallstones, liver problems, and digestive issues related to bile flow. It can also help dissolve cholesterol-based gallstones and support liver function in people with chronic liver conditions such as primary biliary cholangitis or hepatitis C. Each tablet contains 50 mg of ursodeoxycholic acid. Please take this medicine exactly as directed by your doctor.
Efficacy / effectiveness
This medicine improves bile flow and supports liver function. It is used for:
- Treating liver and biliary tract disorders caused by poor bile flow.
- Improving digestion after small bowel surgery or in inflammatory bowel disease.
- Dissolving cholesterol-based gallstones.
- Supporting liver function in chronic liver diseases, such as primary biliary cholangitis and chronic hepatitis C.
Dosing / Administration
- For liver and biliary tract disorders or indigestion: Take 1 tablet (50 mg) three times a day.
- For gallstone dissolution: Take 4 tablets (200 mg) three times a day.
- For chronic liver diseases such as primary biliary cholangitis or hepatitis C: Take 4 tablets (200 mg) three times a day. The dose may be increased up to 18 tablets (900 mg) per day if needed.
Dosage may be adjusted based on your age and condition. Always follow your doctor’s instructions.

Precautions / Side Effects
- You have experienced allergic reactions such as itching or rash due to medications or food in the past.
- You have complete biliary obstruction or fulminant hepatitis.
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding.

The main reported side effects include diarrhea, nausea, loss of appetite, constipation, heartburn, stomach discomfort, abdominal pain, itching, rash, abdominal bloating, general fatigue, and dizziness.

In rare cases, the following symptoms may occur and could be early signs of the adverse reactions listed in brackets.
If you experience any of these symptoms, stop using the medication immediately and seek medical attention.
