PIRENZEPINE Tablet is a medicine that suppresses the secretion of stomach acid. It is used to treat gastritis and stomach ulcers.
By suppressing the secretion of gastric acid, the irritation of the gastric mucosa caused by gastric acid is weakened, which leads to the healing of gastritis and gastric ulcers.
It is also used to prevent stomach irritation caused by other drugs such as analgesics.
Efficacy / effectiveness
- Improvement of gastric mucosal lesions (erosion, bleeding, redness, mucus adhesion) and digestive symptoms in the following diseases:
Acute gastritis, acute exacerbation of chronic gastritis - Gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer
It is classified as a muscarinic receptor antagonist. This drug in particular acts selectively on the stomach, so it has little effect on other organs.
It is suitable for preventing hypergastrinemia caused by powerful ulcer treatment drugs (H2 blockers, PPIs).
Dosing / Administration
- In general, for adults, take 1 tablet (25 mg of pirenzepine hydrochloride) at a time, 3 to 4 times a day, but the dosage may be increased or decreased depending on the disease, age, and symptoms being treated. Be sure to follow the instructions for taking the medicine.
- If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as possible. However, if the next dose is within two hours, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. You should not take two doses at one time.
- If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
- Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions / Side Effects
- If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines or foods.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)
The most commonly reported side effects include dry mouth, constipation, diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, and rash. If you notice any of these symptoms, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
- Fever, sore throat, fatigue [agranulocytosis]
- Rash, hives, difficulty breathing [anaphylactoid symptoms]
