We previously posted a notice on our website on August 2. We would like to inform you that Japan Post — the carrier we use for shipments — has also published an announcement on its website regarding the same change to imports bound for the United States (the de minimis rule).
Below is an English translation of the Japanese text posted on the Japan Post website.
On July 30 (last month), the U.S. government issued a presidential order titled “Suspension of De Minimis Treatment for All Countries” concerning mailings addressed to the United States. Under this order, postal items containing goods imported for consumption will no longer qualify for de minimis (duty‑free) treatment as of August 29 of this year, and duties will be applied. However, as of today the specific operational procedures for declaring such taxable postal items to U.S. Customs and for paying the applicable duties remain unclear. Therefore, when sending mail to the United States, please be aware that deliveries may be subject to delays, returns, or other measures. We ask that you send items with this possibility in mind. We will promptly post any additional information or updates on our website as they become available.
