096 TSUMURA Saibokuto Extract Granules modulate the body’s immune response and have anti-inflammatory effects. It also helps to reduce coughing and stabilizes elevated nerves to improve mental and physical condition. It is suitable for people who have moderate physical strength, have a stretched lower ribs from the elephant, and have a feeling of chest tightness and throat stuffiness.
Specifically, it is suitable for asthma and bronchitis with sputum, coughing of a long-lasting cold, depression and anxiety.
Efficacy / effectiveness
096 TSUMURA Saibokuto Extract Granules is a Kampo (Japanese traditional herbal) medicine prescribed for patients experiencing depressive mood, a sensation of a foreign body in the throat or esophagus, and accompanying symptoms such as palpitations, dizziness, and nausea.
It is usually used to treat infantile asthma, bronchial asthma, bronchitis, coughing and anxiety neurosis.
Dosing / Administration
- In general, for adults, take 7.5 g a day orally in 2 or 3 divided doses with cold or lukewarm water before or between meals. The dosage may be adjusted according to your age, body weight and symptoms. Strictly follow your instructions.
- If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as possible. However, if the next dose is within two hours, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. You should not take two doses at one time.
- If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
- Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions / Side Effects
- If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)
The most commonly reported adverse reactions include rash, hives, thirst, loss of appetite, gastric discomfort, stomachache, diarrhea, constipation, frequent urination, painful urination, bloody urine, persistent urge to urinate and cystitis. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
Rarely, the following symptoms may occur and could represent early signs of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If you experience any of these symptoms, discontinue use and seek medical attention immediately.
- Fever, dry cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing [interstitial pneumonia]
- Decreased urine output, swelling of the face or hands and feet, heavy eyelids, stiffness of the hands [pseudoaldosteronism]
- Generalized weakness with loss of strength in the limbs, muscle cramps in the hands or feet, numbness of the hands or feet [myopathy]
- General fatigue, yellowing of the skin or the whites of the eyes [hepatic dysfunction]
